I got an ARC of this book for an honest review so here goes :)
I started this book this afternoon and could not out it down. The story grips you from the first page when you meet Jake. He's away in the war. And while he's busy keeping his team safe as well as himself he keep's seen this girl with amazing blue eyes. Shes everywhere,but when he gets a chance to talk to her something stops him and then she vanishes. Why does she keep slipping threw his fingers?
After we meet Jake we then meet out girl Liz. Liz is a school teacher and mam of 3 kids. Stuck in a rut because of health reasons and getting fatter by the minute(in her eyes anyways) because she hasn't been able to keep up her fitness. It doesn't help that she is married to a bloke who wishes his wife looked like someone else. Who you may ask? No one person,just someone who's not his wife. He has secret money stashes for when she finally gives into him plastic surgery pushing. He is as ass!
One morning Liz gets up to go on a run/walk while the kids are in bed. As long as she doesn't push things she should be alright. On her travels she meets a man. She gets talking to him,and can kinda remember seen him a time or two. He seems nice enough. And not bad to look at either. Well he seems nice enough until Liz has to leave. And before she can register whats happening he has a weird smelling cloth stuck to her face. Then everything.Goes.Blank.
Liz has been kidnapped! KIDNAPPED! By the cute side of the road guy! All the while shes passed out,Jake(yes army dude!) keeps her comfortable until the reach there destination. Which by the way is Canada. He actually hides her in a crate and halls her ass across the border into Canada. Its clear to say he's not playing with the full deck.
Liz wakes days later,terrified and so dirty she's give a pig in muck a run for its money. She's chained up in a little shack. No way to get out,even if she could break free from here she's no idea where here is. Jack comes to get her and bring her water and food. She is shocked that he actually took her. But she's even more shocked when she realizes how nice he is. He unchains her and wants to show her around. HELLO this isn't a holiday resort! *Deep breaths* Even though I was shouting at him,I couldn't help fall for Jake. Just like Liz does. She see's the real him. The him who cry's out in his sleep,and had the worse night terrors you wouldn't wish on your worse enemy. He know's he can't keep Liz,she has a life back home so he gives her every opportunity to go free and she doesn't take it. She doesn't know what it is with Jake. Yes he did kidnap her,but she's not afraid of him. Not one bit.
Why rush home to a husband who doesn't want you when you have a guy that wants you so much he's kidnap you just to have you? Yeah it may sound mad. And yes it it MENTAL. BUT I can tell you after reading this book Jake can kidnap me whenever he wants ;)
I would recommend this book! I cannot wait to see what other books Sam has for us :)
